Abstract Background Hemoglobin A1c is used to assess glycemic control to both diagnose and monitor diabetes mellitus. Several different methodologies are available including high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), capillary electrophoresis (CE), and immunoassay (IA). These methods are standardized and traceable to the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT).
