Adesão ao Rastreio da Retinopatia Diabética: um Modelo de Simulação Baseado em Agentes Article Swipe

A retinopatia diabética é a principal causa de cegueira nos países desenvolvidos. A forma mais eficaz de evitar a evolução da doença é o seu diagnóstico atempado, através de programas de rastreio de base populacional. Um dos principais problemas associados a este tipo de programas é a baixa taxa de adesão. No entanto, a decisão individual de aderir ao rastreio praticamente não foi explorada nos modelos de simulação existentes na literatura. Assim, o principal objetivo da presente investigação é demonstrar a relevância de modelos de simulação computacional, no estudo desta problemática. Para tal, foi desenvolvido um modelo baseado em agentes, suportado por dados reais que, reconhecendo a importância das características individuais dos diabéticos, replica eficazmente a realidade. A utilização do mesmo modelo para encenar intervenções, comprovou a sua utilidade na descoberta de conhecimento e proposta de medidas às entidades responsáveis pela tomada de decisão.
