This paper provides an overview of the CLAS12 Torus magnet electromagnetic loss and energy balance in the magnet system and impact on the cryogenics system during an event of a fast dump and quench, as part of the commissioning activities within Hall B for the 12 GeV Accelerator Upgrade project at Jefferson Lab in November 2016. Test carried out validates the design of torus magnet protection and cryogenic safety system. This magnet is unique in that it comprises 6 superconducting coils which are individually conduction-cooled by helium, thereby providing an element of thermal and mechanical decoupling between the coils. Lastly, as such its behavior under a fast dump condition (and even a quench) is markedly different from that of more conventional bath-cooled superconducting magnets.
