The Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) and The American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (ASBMT) collaborated to present the first FACT-ASBMT Quality Boot Camp in conjunction with the 2016 BMT Tandem Meetings. Attendees were invited to participate and submit pre-meeting program assessments. During the all-day event, experts presented concepts on quality topics and 2 roundtable sessions were held that provided participants the opportunity to discuss issues, ask questions, network and complete further activities. Feedback was obtained from participants through audience response questions, end-of-day surveys, and post-Boot Camp electronic surveys. Each roundtable had an overarching theme, such as Quality Management or Outcome Analysis; during the roundtable sessions. Participants discussed the proposed 3-6 topic questions as a small group and submitted their responses. A subcommittee analyzed the answers and determined which quality category the response best fit. These categories were then analyzed for frequency (Figure 1). Results from all these activities were collated, analyzed, and shared with attendees and the ASBMT and FACT planning committees to better support transplant programs in learning and sharing quality practices. Moreover, the post-event survey indicated that 74% of respondents would attend future Boot Camps and 54% could identify other individuals who would attend this workshop. The Quality Boot Camp clearly demonstrates the value of networking opportunities within the BMT quality community. Programs can use the information gleaned from the sessions for internal quality process and outcomes improvements; ASBMT and FACT will use the results obtained from this Boot Camp in the development and execution of future educational activities, including the 2017 FACT-ASBMT Quality Boot Camp.
