Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM is a commonly used and well-studied probiotic bacterium.By the present differential proteome analysis, new insights into its synbiotic combination with the emerging prebiotic raffinose through comparative whole-cell and surface proteomes coupled with intestinal cell adhesion analysis are gained.This picture shows bacterial cells adhering to human colonic HT-29 cells as stimulated by raffinose (chemical formula) and the representative 2-DIGE image of bacterial proteins with increased (red) and reduced abundance (green) identified by mass spectrometry.For details, see research article by Hasan U.
