COVER ILLUSTRATION Major psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia (SCZ), bipolar disorder (BD) and major depressive disorder (MDD) are heritable conditions with overlapping genetic liability. Xu et al’s meta-analysis of diffusion tensor imaging studies identified the individuals with increased genetic risk for developing SCZ, BD and MDD displayed common lower fractional anisotropy in the genu and splenium of corpus callosum compared with healthy controls, which might represent shared familial vulnerability marker of severe mental illnesses. This image aims to reflect that the deficits of corpus callosum tracts might play a crucial role in the genetic inheritance of severe mental illness.
