In this chapter, we provide an overview of the data harmonization on information about labour earnings, occupational classifications, and job tasks used in the country studies included in this book. We also briefly explain the common methodological framework that underlies most of the analyses after being adapted to each country context. The approaches used bring together various analytical techniques that allow a better description of the magnitude and nature of the change in earnings inequality, particularly the role of skills and the task composition of occupations. Therefore, this chapter is intended as a complementary tool that provides more technical information that the country studies, for the sake of conciseness, will omit.
