간선도로는 도시부도로에서 이동성 위계가 가장 높은 도로로, 신호운영 분야는 간선도로 주현시 직진 차량의 연속적인 흐름을 보장하기 위해 여러 신호 설계 이론을 정립하였다. 그러나 다양한 연동 연구가 진행되고 있음에도 불구하고 적용된 신호 시간의 효율성을 평가하는 척도에 관한 연구는 미미했다. 최근 정밀한 데이터 수집 환경이 구축되면서 실시간으로 다양한 교통데이터가 축적되고 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 수집된 교통 데이터를 활용하여 기존 연동 효율지표의 한계를 보완한 새로운 평가 지표를 설계하였다. 새로운 연동 효율 지표는 설계 시 실제 교통류 상황을 대표하기 위해 ‘개별 차량 속도’와 ‘정지 횟수’ 반영에 중점을 두었다. 새로운 지표의 평가 기준은 2초 단위 차량 궤적 데이터를 이용하여 표출한 시공도를 바탕으로 마련하였다. 이후 신호 연동 최적화 프로그램인 KS-Signal을 이용하여 산출한 기존 연동 효율 지표를 새로운 지표와 비교하여 본 지표의 현실성을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 한 방향 연동폭 최적화만을 다루었기 때문에 후에 양방향 최적화를 본 연동 효율 지표에 적용할 경우 더욱 실제적인 결과를 도출할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 또한, 신호 시간을 함께 표출한 차량 궤적 그래프와 새 연동 효율 지표는 신호 TOD 검증 및 개선을 위한 근거자료로써 활용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.
