Industrial automation has gained much attention due to its advanced means to automatize multipart industrial processes by employing pipeline techniques and computer-aided technology in the manufacturing industry. The critical issue for manufacturing industries is to compete globally in terms of productivity, cost, and demand-supply proportion. To achieve this goal, the industries mainly focus on automated approaches in their manufacturing plants. Particularly many processes are developed to run simultaneously or in a pipeline approach for a complex production system. However, teaching this type of concurrently running assembly line system in a college can be a challenge for educators since students may not be able to imagine how the pipeline system works. In addition, supervising students to design, program, and implement the system for the manufacturing industries can be more problematic because of the complicated configuration of the systems. The Industrial Manufacture System (IMS) developed at the college intends to address the need in education. This paper will introduce how the production assembly line developed, the system consists of Sorting, Assembly, Processing, Testing, Storage, and Buffering operations. The Siemens Simatic PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) S300 will be used in the manufacturing system and TIA (Total Integrated Automation) Portal and the Human-machine interface (HMI) will be used as the programming environment and the human-machine contact interface. For students to understand and program the designed system, Factory I/O and PLCSIM will be used as a simulator before the real implementation. The designed manufacturing system offers a more convenient and efficient approach to the transition of manufacturing industries from manual to automated. The automation efficiency can be enhanced furthermore by taking help from using Factory IO and PLC (SIM) Simulation. In conclusion, this project will lead to a direct positive impact on society with several roots. Moreover, IMS will be a part of the education renaissance, and a new chapter for students to get more involved with the manufacturing System routine.
