This note provides a discussion on the paper by Wang and Li (2023) on the topic of shear behaviour of peat at different stress levels. The topics dealt with include characterisation of the peat, sample disturbance, volume changes of the samples during consolidation in the triaxial cell, aspects of dealing with membrane effects, issues concerning interpretation of the test results and on the authors comments on the reliability of previous testing of similar material.
