Core-Shell Hydrogel Fibers In article 2302011 by Kosuke Ino, Hitoshi Shiku, and co-workers, a simple and rapid method is presented for fabricating core-shell hydrogel fibers consisting of straight or beaded core fibers. Interfacial polyelectrolyte complexation (IPC) of chitosan and DNA is used for preparing the core fibers, and calcium alginate shell hydrogels are formed around the core IPC fibers. The fibers can be used for various cell-culture applications, such as forming tissue structures.
