L’activité de conception qui autrefois avait une structure séquentielle a aujourd’hui une structure intégrée avec une multitude d’activités, d’acteurs et de méthodes. Une méthode de conception efficace doit prendre en compte les contextes socioéconomiques et sociotechniques des utilisateurs des équipements pour lesquels elle a été mise sur pieds. Pour répondre à cette exigence, plusieurs méthodes visant l’amélioration du processus de conception d’équipements agricoles et de transformation agroalimentaire en pays du Sud ont vu le jour ces dernières années. Mais les récents projets de conception en pays du Sud en général et au Cameroun en particulier sont caractérisés par la quasi inapplication de ces méthodes de conception. C’est fort de ce constat que l’objectif fixé est celui de proposer une solution pour favoriser l’application des méthodes de conception adaptées à l’usage en pays du Sud. Pour y arriver, il a été effectué une enquête auprès des concepteurs de Ngaoundéré. Cette enquête a permis d’avoir une vision globale des entraves à l’application de ces méthodes de conception au Cameroun. Au terme de cette enquête, il a été constaté que les méthodes adaptées à l’usage en pays du Sud ne sont quasiment pas connues et que ces méthodes sont complexes et difficiles à mettre en œuvre. Par ailleurs, il n’existe pas assez de documentation et de cas d’application facilitant l’apprentissage de ces méthodes. C’est fort de ces constats que la mise sur pieds d’une formulation académique et plus simplifiée de ces méthodes de conception facilitera leur application.
