BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Liver transplantation (LT) offers the most effective treatment. HCC recurrence is the strongest risk factor that decreases post-LT survival in patients transplanted for HCC. The rate of HCC recurrence is generally reported as 8%-20% in the literature.
