Flooding is one of the most destructive global disasters in scale, geographical extent, property and life loss, population displacement. The Cauvery River flood vulnerable rivers Peninsular region India. At-site frequency analysis performed using flow data obtained at Kodumudi gauged site River. Log Pearson Type III Gumbel Max distribution models are used present study to estimate peak floods for different return periods. Central Water Commission provides annual maximum discharge over 39 years (1980-2018). goodness fit test employing Kolmogorov-Smirnov Anderson- Darling tests, reveals that Log-Pearson best estimates area. predicted by periods 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 200, 500 approximately 929, 1886, 2998, 5303, 8002, 11929, 17633, 29228 cumecs. Hydraulic structures can be designed based on 100-year flood. research could help with flooding management approaches, vulnerability analyses, hydraulic structure design region.
