Immunotherapeutics have revolutionized the treatment of many severe conditions. Monoclonal antibodies and other biologics that act on the immune system or by similarity with components of the immune system are targeted drugs, which address certain pathophysiological mechanisms involved in various diseases. The practical applications of immunotherapies range from antineoplastic therapy to infectious diseases and to the antagonism of the effects of some drugs.
