In the past few decades, lithium-ion batteries have developed rapidly in the field of energy storage. However, due to the increasing demand for high-power devices in daily life, the idea of combining the advantages of capacitors with battery devices has made the field of hybrid ion capacitors known as a hot spot. In this chapter, the development of sodium-ion capacitors and their comparison with other mixed-ion capacitors are briefly reviewed. In addition, pre-sodiation technologies and flexible devices are also briefly discussed as the unique core areas of sodium-ion capacitors. This chapter is intended to quickly lead readers to appreciate and grasp the background, development reasons, device advantages, and core issues of sodium-ion capacitors.
