Kein Handbuch, aber viele interessante Tiefenbohrungen: Eine Kritik der sechsbändigen „Global History of Crime and Punishment“ Article Swipe
Zusammenfassung In dem vorliegenden Besprechungsessay der sechsbändigen Anthologie „A Global History of Crime and Punishment“ des Verlags Bloomsbury Academic wird hervorgehoben, dass die Bände trotz ihrer einheitlichen Struktur und des globalen Anspruchs inhaltlich und methodisch äußerst uneinheitlich aufgebaut sind. Viele Beiträge bieten zwar spezialisierte Einblicke, vernachlässigen jedoch den globalen oder transnationalen Vergleich. Kritische Erwähnung finden auch die unzureichende Integration nicht-englischsprachiger Forschung und die mangelnde Definition von Terminologie und Kategorien, die Vergleichbarkeit erst ermöglicht hätten. Trotz dieser Schwächen bieten viele Beiträge wertvolle Erkenntnisse und originäre Forschung, insbesondere zu außereuropäischen Strafsystemen. Handbuchartige Überblicke sollte man jedoch nicht erwarten.
