Embora pouco conhecidas, dados apontam para a importância dereligiões de matriz africana no município de Guarulhos, em comparação comos demais municípios do Estado de São Paulo. Este artigo inicia uma discussãoacerca desta importância a partir de uma primeira leitura da representatividade deterreiros religiosos no município, propondo uma investigação mais aprofundadada questão para compreensão histórica e cultural que, amarradas nas questõesreligiosas, permitam o melhor conhecimento da sociedade e na ampliação depesquisas e políticas de preservação para esse cenário.
