The concept of mobility justice took shape through linking the problem of sustainability transitions in transportation and urban infrastructure with the wider problems of social justice, global inequalities and the politics of mobility. This chapter describes a range of mobility injustices and the emergence of applied mobilities research that seeks to contribute to more sustainable and just policy, planning, design and innovation. It offers an overview of multi-scalar and mobile methods focusing on two sub-fields: cycling research, and migration and border studies, as interpreted through the tools of mobilities research.
