The title hydrated salt, C 8 H 11 N 3 2+ ·2Cl − ·H 2 O, is a monoclinic polymorph of the previously reported triclinic form. The compound crystallizes in space group P 2 1 / c with Z ′ = 1. The crystal structure features N—H...O, N—H...Cl and O—H...Cl hydrogen bonds and aromatic π–π stacking interactions, forming a three-dimensional network.
