Müslümantepe (Diyarbakır) Orta Çağ Yerleşiminde Yaşam Uzunluğu Article Swipe

Küçük bir köy yerleşimi olan Müslümantepe’de, 2002-2012 yılları arasında gerçekleştirilmiş olan Ilısu Barajı Kurtarma Kazıları çerçevesinde 459 bireye ait iskelet kalıntılarına ulaşılmıştır. Bu bireylerin %31,15’i kadın, %21,57’si erkek ve %7,41’i cinsiyeti tespit edilemeyen erişkinlerden oluşur. Toplulukta kadınlar yoğunluktadır (kadın/erkek oranı 1,4’tür). Bebek ve çocuk ölümleri tüm toplumun yaklaşık %40’ını oluşturur. Bebekler toplulukta %19,61, çocuklar %22,66 oranlarıyla temsil edilmektedir. Genç erişkinler %14,16, erişkinler %36,6 ve yaşlılar ise %6,97 oranındadır. Erişkin iskeletlerin ortalama yaşı 33,46 yıldır. Bebek ve çocuk ölüm oranları çağdaşı diğer topluluklarla benzerlik gösterirken, yaşam ortalaması Anadolu Orta Çağı toplumları içinde oldukça düşüktür. Boy ortalamaları açısından kadınlar ortalamanın üstündeyken, erkekler Anadolu Orta Çağı boy ortalamasıyla uyumludur. Anne ve bebek ölümlerinin yüksek olduğu düşünülen toplulukta %19,67 oranında doğum esnasında ya da doğumu izleyen kısa süre içerisinde kaybedilmiş bebekler vardır. Aynı zamanda topluluktaki bireylerin %39,87’si henüz 18 yaşına ulaşmadan hayatını kaybetmiştir. Boy uzunluğu değerleri açısından topluluğun genel sağlık ve beslenme durumunun birçok Orta Çağ topluluğuna göre çok da kötü olmadığını düşünülmektedir. Bununla birlikte muhtemelen ara ara gerçekleşen savaşlar nedenle ortaya çıkan kısa dönemli kıtlıklar, özellikle topluluğun en savunmasız öğelerinden biri olan çocukları ve gebe kadınları etkilemiştir. Toplulukta kadınların erkeklerden fazla oranda temsil edilmeleri savaşlarda görev almak için köyünü terk eden erkeklerin olduğuna işaret ediyor olabilir.
