Thiên niên kiện lá lớn đã được sử dụng trong y học cổ truyền từ lâu đời. Các đặc điểm vi phẫu và thành phần bột dược liệu của loài này vẫn chưa được mô tả một cách toàn diện. Nghiên cứu này mô tả đặc điểm vi phẫu, soi bột, đánh giá hoạt tính ức chế acetylcholinesterase và hoạt tính chống oxy hoá của loài Thiên niên kiện lá lớn. Nghiên cứu đặc điểm vi học bằng phương pháp kính hiển vi. Hoạt tính ức chế enzyme acetylcholinesterase được đánh giá bằng phương pháp Ellman và chống oxy hóa được thực hiện trên mô hình loại bỏ gốc tự do 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). Đây là báo cáo đầu tiên về đặc điểm vi phẫu, soi bột của lá và rễ Thiên niên kiện lá lớn. Nghiên cứu đã xác định cao n-hexane thể hiện hoạt tính ức chế acetylcholinesterase trung bình với IC50 là 133,87 ± 2,76 mg/ml. Cao ethyl acetat thể hiện hoạt tính chống oxy hoá trung bình với IC50 là 69,51 ± 0,05 mg/ml. Các cao khác chưa thể hiện hoạt tính ở điều kiện thí nghiệm. Kết quả nghiên cứu đã chứng minh kinh nghiệm sử dụng loài này để làm thuốc của dân gian và là cơ sở khoa học để nghiên cứu, phát triển Thiên niên kiện lá lớn thành nguồn nguyên liệu làm thuốc điều trị các bệnh liên quan đến tác dụng chống oxy hoá và Alzheimer.
