The article studies the process of formation of the main principles of civil law in Soviet Russia of the 1920s. The principled and declarative provisions that the legislator used significantly influenced the tendencies that emerged in the civil and economic law that was created during this period. Socio-political dimension of the legal norms was particularly clearly manifested in the formation of the so-called “Declarative articles” of the Civil Code. Much attention was paid to such issues of legal technique, language and methods of law enforcement that were developed in the 1920s, but significantly influenced the further development of civil law in Russia.
