Neste artigo, elaboraremos uma proposta de encontro entre literatura digital e a categoria de jogos denominada otome games. O jogador encontra no otome game características como controles “simples”, personagens romanceáveis majoritariamente homens e heterossexuais, e com estilo de arte que imita mangá/anime. Para ilustrar esse exemplo, utilizamos o jogo Tengoku Struggle –Strayside–, da desenvolvedora Otomate, distribuído pela Aksys Games em 2024. Na obra, a personagem principal, Rin Enma, ao receber a missão de resgatar fugitivos do Inferno, precisa contar com a ajuda de quatro prisioneiros. É assim que ela desbloqueia as rotas para um provável romance com algum deles. É através deste jogo que cumpriremos nosso objeto principal: criar uma relação entre literatura digital e otome games, que será alcançado através dos nossos objetivos específicos: 1) fazer um levantamento do que é essa categoria de jogos; 2) fazer um breve histórico do que é literatura digital; 3) analisar a obra The Warp and Weft of Memory (2022), de Renée Turner, e o jogo, para comparar as características hipertextuais em ambos. Concluímos que é possível que a pesquisa em literatura digital em otome games gere trabalhos frutíferos eventualmente.
