Genomic sequencing can identify children at risk for many genetic disorders that biomarker-based screening may miss, raising excitement about its potential to complement conventional newborn screening programs. Limited data exist about who would consent to and who would decline to participate in population-based newborn genomic sequencing (NBSeq) programs, particularly from populations historically underrepresented in biomedical research. Analyses of enrollment into NBSeq trials can help fill this knowledge gap.
