Belajar adalah proses dimana manusia memperoleh pengetahuan atau menguasainya melalui pengalaman, ingatan, pengumpulan informasi atau penemuan. Menurut teori aliran kognitif, kegiatan belajar melibatkan lebih dari sekedar stimulus atau reaksi mekanis; mereka juga melibatkan proses mental pelajar itu sendiri. Tingkat pertumbuhan kognitif seseorang menentukan bagaimana struktur mental seseorang berkembang. Bakat dan keterampilan yang diperlukan untuk memproses banyak informasi atau pengetahuan yang diambil seseorang dari lingkungannya meningkat dengan perkembangan kognitif yang lebih baik. Dengan memberikan pemahaman dan menerapkannya dalam permainan, pembelajaran kognitif berperan penting dalam penerapan praktik dalam pembelajaran pendidikan jasmani dan kesehatan, sehingga terjadi otomatisasi. Otomatisasi bergerak dari landasan kognitif-afektif. Partisipasi siswa dalam kegiatan pembelajaran sangatlah penting. Menghubungkan pengetahuan baru dengan struktur kognitif siswa yang sudah ada sebelumnya akan meningkatkan keterlibatan dan retensi pembelajaran. Kata kunci: Pembelajaran, Pendidikan Jasmani, Kognitif
