Resumen En este artículo se analiza la composición sociodemográfica de los indígenas en los censos demográficos de 1991, 2000 y 2010, y se investigan las desigualdades en el acceso al saneamiento básico y a la electricidad a partir del Censo de 2010. Se propone una metodología que clasifica las viviendas con indígenas en homogéneos, mixtos con un responsable de la vivienda indígena y mixtos con un responsable de la vivienda no indígena. Se observó una desigualdad significativa en el acceso a infraestructuras y servicios, con peores condiciones en las viviendas homogéneos y en las viviendas con responsable indígena. Las diferencias regionales y por situación se superpusieron con las diferencias por tipo de vivienda y ubicación, con mejores condiciones en las zonas urbanas que en las rurales, y en las regiones Sureste y Sur, siendo el Norte la región con menor acceso en general. Se observaron diferencias regionales y entre zonas urbanas y rurales, con mejores condiciones en las zonas urbanas y en el sureste y el sur. Estas desigualdades reflejan la fragmentación de las políticas públicas, las presiones económicas y los procesos de desterritorialización, entre otros factores. El desarrollo de nuevas técnicas y el debate crítico son esenciales para comprender y abordar las desigualdades raciales en el país y promover políticas públicas adecuadas para los pueblos indígenas.
