Számos preklinikai és megfigyeléses vizsgálat megmutatta, hogy a táplálkozás, a testmozgás, illetve az életmód jelentős hatással van a prosztatarák incidenciájára, a már kialakult betegség progressziójára, a mortalitásra, valamint a betegek általános állapotára. Habár jelenleg nem áll rendelkezésre 1-es szintű evidenciájú, randomizált kontrollált vizsgálat (randomised controlled trial, RCT), az eddig vizsgálatok alapján a megnövelt gyümölcs- és zöldségbevitel, a vörös hús és a telített zsírok fogyasztásának csökkentése, a gyakori, rendszeresen végzett testmozgás, alacsony BMI csökkenti a betegség inci- denciáját, és javítja a progressziómentes, betegségspecifikus és általános túlélést is. A diétás változtatások, a fizikai aktivitás sokszor kéz a kézben járnak, egymástól nem elválaszthatók. Több RCT vizsgálat van folyamatban, amelyek megfelelő evidenciával szolgálhatnak a későbbiekben.
