This paper critically examines and challenges the enduring Anglo-Latin binary that has historically shaped geographical understandings of the Western Hemisphere. We argue that this simplistic division, often rooted in colonial legacies and linguistic-cultural distinctions, obscures complex patterns of interconnectedness, historical flows, and multifaceted inequalities that transcend rigid categories. By dissecting the intellectual genealogies of this binary, we demonstrate how it perpetuates specific power dynamics and hinders a holistic appreciation of trans-hemispheric relations. Drawing on decolonial, postcolonial, and transregional theoretical frameworks, we propose a reimagined hemispheric geography that emphasizes fluid boundaries, hybrid identities, and multifocal analyses of power and resistance. This approach seeks to uncover hidden linkages, amplify marginalized voices, and reveal the intricate ways in which diverse regions within the Americas and beyond are co-constituted through shared histories of trade, migration, environmental change, and cultural exchange. Ultimately, this paper advocates for a more nuanced and relational understanding of the hemisphere, one that moves beyond reductive binaries to foster a more inclusive and critically informed geographical scholarship capable of addressing contemporary challenges of global inequality and justice.
