Salinity-affected agricultural systems are distributed throughout the world and a quantitative assessment of soil salinity-wind erosion nexus is therefore critically important in understanding dust feedbacks to climate, soil degradation, air quality, and soil erosion control. This study investigated how the use of slightly saline irrigation water may affect soil susceptibility to wind erosion and the dust emission potential of dry soils, and how these processes are affected by the amount of clay in the soil. The data sets include particle size distribution (wet, dry dispersion), threshold velocities for wind erosion, soil crust strength (penetrometer) measurements and dust emission potential.
