This research deals with the subject of Special Education. It tries to map the scientific production in Brazil concerning the schooling of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in regular classes, basing the analysis on the categories: conceptions about diagnosis of ASD and health - education relationship. This has been accomplished by means of bibliometric analysis and the content analysis of 88 publications. The bibliometric analysis shows that research is concentrated in the public universities of the South-east, being carried out predominantly by people with an educational background in the fields of medicine and healthcare, who carried out postgraduate studies in Education, focusing on research concerning Special Education. The analysis of publications shows the maintenance of the notion that Special Education should be carried out under the logic of health rehabilitation, making teachers assume they require biomedical knowledge to be able to teach. Consequently, what is understood as schooling of children diagnosed with ASD remains very close to the clinic of normalization.
