The Architecture of Implicit Knowledge: Computational Models of Intuition from Quantum Probability to High-Dimensional Manifolds Article Swipe
This work develops a unified computational theory of intuition, reframing intuitive judgment as a mathematically tractable class of information-processing strategies rather than a mystical or heuristic residue. Integrating predictive processing, manifold geometry, sparse coding, quantum cognition, bounded rationality, and modern deep learning, the paper formalizes intuition as rapid uncertainty minimization via high-dimensional shortcutting. Intuitive inference is modeled through geodesic traversal on low-dimensional manifolds, interference-based belief updates in non-commutative Hilbert spaces, sparse feature activation, and resource-constrained policy selection. The analysis contrasts these parametric, System-1-like mechanisms with explicit, retrieval-based System-2 architectures such as RAG, Counterfactual RAG, and Oracle-Augmented Generation. The resulting framework explains both the power and fragility of intuition—its efficiency, creativity, hallucination modes, and order effects—and proposes architectural principles for hybrid systems that combine intuitive generalization with verifiable grounding
