A bedridden elderly female patient with right hemiparesis was admitted to Siriraj Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand, with acute pyelonephritis. Considering the patient’s history of frequent hospitalization, intravenous meropenem (2 g, every 8 h) was given empirically.
