Introduction: Mosquito-transmitted diseases are a significant global health issue, especially in tropical regions. This study aimed to evaluate the difference in fecundity capacity, hatching ability, larva development, and esterase pattern of Aedes aegypti with different breeding places Methods: From January to December 2014, a randomized post-test-only control group study was conducted at Udayana and Gadjah Mada Universities. Aedes aegypti mosquitoes were bred in clear, sand-based, soil-based, soapy, and detergent water. Differences in fecundity, hatching ability, and larval development were analyzed using ANOVA and LSD tests, with esterase variations examined using chi-square tests. Results: The average hatching ability of Aedes aegypti eggs ranged from 82.4% to 100%, with no significant differences between treatment and control groups or across generations. Larval development and eclosion (adults formed) percentages also showed no significant differences. Predominantly observed esterase bands were type "a" (black) esterase 3. Chi-square analysis revealed a significant difference only in esterase band “2” between the control and sand-based water treatment groups, with no significant differences in esterase bands 1 and 3 between groups. These findings highlight the importance of esterase patterns in understanding Aedes aegypti's breeding capacity in different water conditions, providing valuable insights into their adaptability and potential impact on disease transmission. Conclusion: Aedes aegypti’s fecundity, hatching, and larval development vary slightly by water type, with genetic differences in esterase patterns. These insights aid mosquito control and disease prevention efforts.
