Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh tugas menonton tayangan “Ethnic Runaway” dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar sosiologi kompetensi Ragam gejala sosial dalam masyarakat kelas X IPS Semester I SMA Negeri 1 Sedayu Bantul Tahun Pelajaran 2015-2016. Hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa dengan metode tugas menonton tayangan “Ethnic Runaway” dapat diterapkan pada pembelajaran sosiologi kompetensi Ragam gejala sosial dalam masyarakat. Metode ini akan menuntut pemahaman siswa untuk menganalisa suku-suku di Indonesia yang ditayangkan oleh “Ethnic Runaway”. Suku-suku yang ditayangkan tersebut memberikan gambaran pada siswa bahwa dalam kehidupan masyarakat terdapat multidimensi identitas dan heterogenitas sosial, sehingga sangat menarik untuk dikaji. Proses pembelajaran dengan metode tersebut dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam belajar dan tingkah laku dalam belajar sosiologi, dengan menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata nilai pada siklus I = 77,30 menjadi 81,09 pada siklus kedua. Dengan demikian metode tugas menonton tayangan “Ethnic Runaway” dapat meningkatan hasil belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran sosiologi kompetensi Ragam gejala sosial dalam masyarakat.
