シロウオの遡上実態と産卵場の環境特性を広島県三津大川において調査した。2016年の漁期は2月下旬~4月下旬であり,漁獲量は大潮の時期に多く小潮の時期に少ない傾向を示した。卵塊分布密度が最高となった地点は,河口から約350 m上流側であった。その地点の塩分は,小潮期には終日ほぼ0であったが,大潮期の満潮時には約25に上昇した。既往知見に比べて高い塩分にさらされる場所においても本種の産卵が確認され,一定期間は淡水及び汽水にさらされる環境であることが産卵場の形成要因として重要である可能性が示唆された。
