High temperature particle-based receivers offer distinct advantages over conventional molten salt receivers due to their ability to achieve temperatures above 700 ºC, direct absorption of solar energy as they fall through a beam of concentrated sunlight, and the relative ease of storage (and retrieval using a secondary working fluid) in insulated storage tanks.
