Simvastatin-Induced Ferroptosis in Orbital Fibroblasts in Graves’ Ophthalmopathy
2025-01-24 • Lujue Wang, Yuan Li, Ting Niu, Jing Deng, Yujiang Geno Shi, Yating Liu, Boding Tong, Xin Qi, Dan Cao, Yongguang Tao, Yunping Li
Our study indicated that ferroptosis plays an important role in the pathogenesis of GO and that simvastatin may induce ferroptosis, suggesting that this drug could serve as a novel therapeutic agent for GO.

Butyrate Ameliorates Graves’ Orbitopathy Through Regulating Orbital Fibroblast Phenotypes and Gut Microbiota
2025-03-04 • Pingbo Ouyang, Qi Jia, Boding Tong, Yun Li, Jiamin Cao, Lujue Wang, Ting Niu, Xin Qi
Butyrate ameliorates several of the symptoms of GO, lowering GO orbital fibroblast viability, adipogenesis, and TGF-β1-induced fibrosis without damaging normal fibroblasts. Butyrate normalizes thyroid function in a GO mouse model, improves histopathological alterations, and transforms gut microbiota populations, proving its potential in treating GO through the gut-thyroid axis.

Combining biomarkers to predict the disease activity of graves’ ophthalmopathy: a combinatory model of the NLR, TRAb and FT4
2025-06-20 • Ting Niu, Lujue Wang, Jing Deng, Yujiang Geno Shi, Yating Liu, Boding Tong, Xin Qi, Dan Cao, Yunping Li
Purpose The aim of this study was to identify potential biomarkers associated with active Graves’ ophthalmopathy (GO) and develop a model for predicting the occurrence and progression of active GO. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 220 GO patients (n=120 in the active phase, n=100 in the stable phase) and 70 healthy controls. Laboratory and other clinical indicators were compared in GO patients at different stages and healthy controls. A multivariate regression analysis model was used to analyze the c…

White matter structural changes in the visual pathway of thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy patients: a free water and multi-shell diffusion imaging study
2025-06-27 • Jiaqi Yao, Xingjie Lu, Jingxu Ma, Lu Hao, Ying Liu, Xianzheng Huang, Junyan Liu, Boding Tong
Background Compared to single-shell diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), free water (FW) and neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging (NODDI) offer a more comprehensive evaluation of microstructural alterations in cerebral white matter (WM), particularly in detecting crossing fibers. However, research utilizing multi-shell diffusion imaging to investigate thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) remains limited. This study employs FW and NODDI to investigate microstructural changes in the white matter of the v…

Changes in the gut microbiota of patients with Graves' orbitopathy according to severity grade
2023-09-06 • Qianshi Zhang, Boding Tong, Zhaoyu Xie, Yun Li, Yuan Li, Lujue Wang, Ban Luo, Xin Qi
Abstract Background To explore the changes of gut microbiota in Graves' orbitopathy (GO) patients of different severity grades and to identify the pathogenic bacteria of GO and the associated mechanism. Methods A total of 18 healthy controls and 62 GO patients were recruited. The baseline information and faecal samples of all subjects were collected for gut microbiota analysis and metabolic function prediction analysis. 16SrDNA sequencing was used for microbial diversity detection. The operational taxonomic unit (…
