金属化合物としてAl2(SO4)3とBaOを添加したジンクリッチペイントを塗布した炭素鋼を乾湿繰り返し腐食試験に供した.金属化合物無添加の場合に認められた白色腐食生成物と鉄さびの生成は,金属化合物の添加により抑制された.また,金属化合物添加により腐食電流密度が大幅に低下した.金属化合物を添加した塗膜中にはAlを含んだSimonkolleiteと微細なBaSO4が形成され,ジンクリッチペイント塗膜の防食性を高めたと考えられる.

塩化物を含む硫酸ミスト環境において,NiSO4含有樹脂を被覆した炭素鋼の耐食性を評価した.形成した腐食生成物の構造を解明するため,放射光を用いたXRDおよびXAFS解析を実施した.NiSO4により,ゲーサイトおよびアカガネアイトの形成が促進された.このアカガネアイトは正方晶系のβ-FeOOHではなく,Niを含有した単斜晶系のアカガネアイトであると考えられる.
