症例は69歳，男性，肺炎治療の経過中にショック状態となり，急激に進行する血液濃縮所見と低アルブミン血症を認めた．肺炎による敗血症性ショックと考え，大量補液，カテコラミン，抗生剤の投与を行い，病状は改善．しかし，過去に程度は軽いが，同様のエピソードがあり，後日の評価にてM蛋白血症を認めたことから，除外診断を行い，全身性毛細血管漏出症候群と診断．予防的治療の検討中に再発し，集学的治療が行われたが，死亡した．
