View article: Impact of P2Y12 inhibitor pretreatment on periprocedural (type 4a) myocardial infarction and bleeding in NSTEMI
Impact of P2Y12 inhibitor pretreatment on periprocedural (type 4a) myocardial infarction and bleeding in NSTEMI Open
In NSTEMI patients undergoing PCI, pretreatment with P2Y12 inhibitors, mainly clopidogrel, did not reduce the incidence of type 4a MI but was associated with an increased risk of in-hospital bleeding.

Impact of glucometabolic status on type 4a myocardial infarction in patients with non–ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction: the role of stress hyperglycemia ratio Open
Background Type 4a myocardial infarction (MI) is a relevant complication in non–ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). While glucometabolic status has been linked t…

Identification of Clinical Phenotypes in Type 2 Myocardial Infarction: Insights Into Characteristics, Prognosis, and Management Strategies Open
Background Type 2 myocardial infarction (T2MI) accounts for a substantial share of acute coronary syndromes but remains challenging to diagnose and manage due to its varied presentations and underlying profiles. This study aims to identify…

Prognostic Relevance of Type 4a Myocardial Infarction and Periprocedural Myocardial Injury in Patients With Non–ST-Segment–Elevation Myocardial Infarction Open
BACKGROUND: Periprocedural myocardial injury (PMI) with or without type 4a myocardial infarction (MI) might occur in patients with non–ST-segment–elevation MI (NSTEMI) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This study investigated…

Pathological findings at invasive assessment in MINOCA: a systematic review and meta-analysis Open
Background Pathological mechanisms of myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) are heterogeneous, with an unknown impact on prognosis, and often remain unrecognised in clinical practice. This study aimed to eva…
View article: Noninvasive Assessment in Takotsubo Syndrome: A Diagnostic Challenge
Noninvasive Assessment in Takotsubo Syndrome: A Diagnostic Challenge Open
Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is a clinical syndrome characterized by a transient left ventricular dysfunction whose diagnosis can be challenging due to its resemblance to acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Despite the growing recognition of TT…
View article: Prognostic impact of the extent of coronary artery disease in patients with acute transmural myocardial infarction undergoing complete percutaneous revascularization
Prognostic impact of the extent of coronary artery disease in patients with acute transmural myocardial infarction undergoing complete percutaneous revascularization Open
Background The management of acute myocardial infarction has been revolutionised by the introduction of early coronary angiography and the reperfusion strategies. Recent studies support the standard of care of complete myocardial revascula…

Prevalence and prognostic relevance of non-obstructive coronary atherosclerosis in MINOCA: a meta-analysis of 35 studies Open
Background Myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) can result from a variety of pathological mechanisms, not always associated with atherosclerosis. It has been suggested to distinguish between patients withou…
View article: Impact of Newly Diagnosed Cancer on Bleeding Events in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation Treated with Direct Oral Anticoagulants
Impact of Newly Diagnosed Cancer on Bleeding Events in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation Treated with Direct Oral Anticoagulants Open
During follow-up, newly diagnosed primitive or metastatic cancer in patients with NVAF taking DOACs is a strong predictor of major bleeding regardless of baseline hemorrhagic risk assessment. In contrast, such an association is not observe…
View article: Multimodality imaging in cardiac masses
Multimodality imaging in cardiac masses Open
Background Cardiac masses (CM) are an extremely heterogeneous clinical scenario, including benign and malignant neoformations. After a first echocardiographic assessment, Cardiac Computed Tomography (CCT) together with Cardiac Magnetic Res…

Predictors for and the role of abnormal mapping values at cardiac magnetic resonance in myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries Open
Background Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) plays a crucial role in the diagnostic approach of Myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA), as a result of its ability to perform myocardial tissue characteri…

Incidence and predictors of heart failure in a cohort of MINOCA patients Open
Background/Introduction A higher risk of death and major cardiovascular events, including Heart Failure (HF), after a Myocardial Infarction with Non-Obstructive Coronary Arteries (MINOCA) has been described. In particular, HF has a negativ…

Performance of Prognostic Scoring Systems in MINOCA: A Comparison among GRACE, TIMI, HEART, and ACEF Scores Open
Background: the prognosis of patients with myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) is not benign; thus, prompting the need to validate prognostic scoring systems for this population. Aim: to evaluate and compa…
