Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Biparametric MRI for Detecting Prostate Cancer—A Comparative Multireader Multicase Accuracy Study
2025-08-29 • D. Nißler, Sabrina Reimers-Kipping, Maja Ingwersen, Frank Berger, Felix Niekrenz, Bernhard Theis, Fabian Hielscher, PR Franken, Nikolaus Gaßler, Ma...
Objectives: To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of AI-assisted biparametric MRI (AI-bpMRI) in detecting prostate cancer (PCa) as a possible replacement for multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) depending on readers’ experience. Methods: This fully crossed, multireader multicase, single-centre, consecutive study retrospectively included men with suspected PCa. Three radiologists with different levels of experience independently scored each participant’s biparametric (bp) MRI, mpMRI, and AI-bpMRI according to the PI-RADS V2.1…

Image quality of virtual monochromatic and material density iodine images for evaluation of head and neck neoplasms using deep learning-based CT image reconstruction – A retrospective observational study

DECT using both DLIR and MAR for the generation of VMIs and MD iodine images resulted in higher subjective quality of oncologic head and neck images than ASIR-V-based SECT. Noise reduction and noise texture were best achieved with DLIR-based MD iodine images.

Artificial intelligence for assistance of radiology residents in chest CT evaluation for COVID-19 pneumonia: a comparative diagnostic accuracy study
2023-03-08 • Lucja Mlynska, Amer Malouhi, Maja Ingwersen, Felix Güttler, Stephanie Gräger, Ulf Teichgräber
Background In hospitals, it is crucial to rule out coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) timely and reliably. Artificial intelligence (AI) provides sufficient accuracy to identify chest computed tomography (CT) scans with signs of COVID-19. Purpose To compare the diagnostic accuracy of radiologists with different levels of experience with and without assistance of AI in CT evaluation for COVID-19 pneumonia and to develop an optimized diagnostic pathway. Material and Methods The retrospective, single-center, comparat…

Critical incidence reporting about medical teaching
2023-03-01 • Ulf Teichgräber, Maja Ingwersen, Björn Kabisch, Cord Spreckelsen
Previous end-of-semester evaluation cycles at our medical school revealed critical incidents about medical teaching. In one instance, a lecturer had frightened students, and in another case, a learning video contained misogynist statements. However, incident information reached the office of the dean too late for appropriate measures. Critical teaching incidents can compromise students and lecturers personally and may adversely affect the medical training. Early identification and efficient resolution are required…
