Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis or Acute Cellular Rejection?
2024-11-04 • Andreas Entenmann, Hubert Kogler, Wolf‐Dietrich Huber, Marita Kölz, A. S. Knisely, Kristijan Skok
ABSTRACT Background Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare malignant disorder of epidermal antigen presenting cells. It is characterized by infiltration of various tissues with dendritic cells (Langerhans cells, LC) that express CD1a or CD207 (langerin), often leading to organ dysfunction. A patient with LCH required liver transplantation (LT) for LCH‐associated biliary‐tract disease. Cholangiopathy developed after LT. The question arose: In this patient, did LC in damaged liver‐allograft biliary epithelium…

T cells in human skin play an important role in the immune defense against pathogens and tumors. T cells are present already in fetal skin, where little is known about their cellular phenotype and biological function. Using single-cell analyses, we identified a naive T cell population expressing αβ and γδ T cell receptors (TCRs) that was enriched in fetal skin and intestine but not detected in other fetal organs and peripheral blood. TCR sequencing data revealed that double-positive (DP) αβγδ T cells displayed lit…

Adolescents and Young Adults (AYAs) With Initially Localized and Metastatic Bone Sarcomas: A Retrospective Single Center Analysis of Side Effect Management
2021-01-01 • Christoph Minichsdorfer, Oskar Steinbrecher, Marita Kölz, Maximilian Schmid, Markus Raderer, Thomas Brodowicz, Wolfgang Lamm
Background/Aim: Ewing sarcoma (ES) and osteosarcomas (OSA) are the most common bone tumor types in adolescents and young adults (AYA). Therapy management of these tumors consists of preoperative chemotherapy, operation, and postoperative chemotherapy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of EURAMOS-A and EURO E.W.I.N.G. protocols. Patients and Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 31 patients between 18 and 39 years of age with ES and OSA treated at the Department of Medicine I, Clin…
