We present a wrapper for the Springer Nature RESTful API written for Python 3. The wrapper allows users to access their free-to-use endpoints via user-friendly interfaces and can be used without prior knowledge of RESTful APIs. This dataset contains information on dissertations of 20,559 new Economics PhDs who graduated from North American institutions between 1997/98 and 2016/17. It includes JEL codes and subjects (keywords) for nearly all dissertations. I added RePEc handles for 6,166 PhDs and Scopus IDs for 12,253 PhDs. The data result from a merger of the AEA's EconLit database and the Journal of Economic Literature's December issues. It was deduplicated and corrected where appropriate (see Notes).

Abstract This study provides the first systematic, international, large‐scale evidence on the extent and nature of multiple institutional affiliations on journal publications.
