12歳齢、去勢雄のワイマラナーが急性発症した四肢不全麻痺を主訴に来院した。病変は第5-6頸椎間左側に寄ったⅠ型椎間板ヘルニアだと診断し、片側椎弓切除術を実施した。術中、脱出した椎間板物質を覆う膜状構造物を剥離すると多量の出血が生じた。椎間板物質摘出後に術野の確認を行ったところ、膜状構造物は内椎骨静脈叢であった。本症例では、側方に脱出した椎間板物質によって、内椎骨静脈叢が背外側に圧排されることにより血流が遮断されていたため、内椎骨静脈叢の確認が困難であった。
