Regularizations for shock and rarefaction waves in the perturbed solitons of the KP equation Open
By means of an asymptotic perturbation method, we study the initial value problem of the KP equation with initial data consisting of parts of exact line-soliton solutions of the equation. We consider a slow modulation of the soliton parame…

Non-crossing permutations for the KP solitons under the Gel'fand-Dickey reductions and the vertex operators Open
We give a classification of the $regular$ soliton solutions of the KP hierarchy, referred to as the $KP solitons$, under the Gel'fand-Dickey $\ell$-reductions in terms of the permutation of the symmetric group. As an example, we show that …

Tire rolling simulation using a real road surface model Open
Since the tire is driven by frictional contact with road surfaces, the contact condition between tire and road is a very important factor for the tire performances. Conventionally, the finite element analysis is used for predicting or eval…

Space Curves and Solitons of the KP Hierarchy. I. The l-th Generalized KdV Hierarchy Open
It is well known that algebro-geometric solutions of the KdV hierarchy are\nconstructed from the Riemann theta functions associated with hyperelliptic\ncurves, and that soliton solutions can be obtained by rational (singular)\nlimits of th…

Influence of hysteresis friction of rubber on surface Open
A tire is one of important mechanical elements of automobile, which is developed with the prediction of the friction in the design process. However, it is quite difficult due to the complicated mechanism of generation of actual friction fo…

The KP equation is a nonlinear dispersive wave equation which provides an excellent model for resonant interactions of shallow-water waves. It is well known that regular soliton solutions of the KP equation may be constructed from points i…
