Computational analysis of large, complex sets of biological data

Bioinformatics ( ) is an interdisciplinary field of science that develops methods and software tools for understanding biological data, especially when the data sets are large and complex. Bioinformatics uses biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, computer programming, information engineering, mathematics and statistics to analyze and interpret biological data. The subsequent process of analyzing and interpreting data is referred to as computational biology.

Computational, statistical, and computer programming techniques have been used for computer simulation analyses of biological queries.

Hormone replacement therapy and dementia risk among postmenopausal women: evidence from the UK Biobank
2025
Abstract Importance The relationship between HRT use and dementia risk is unclear, with studies reporting both increased and decreased risk. Objective To identify modulators of the association between HRT use and dementia risk and identify potentially responsive subgroups of women. Design, setting, and participants This study used data from the UK Biobank, with baseline assessment conducted between 2006 and 2010 and follow up through to October 2022. The cohort included post-menopausal women without a diagnosis of…
