Queue Estimation in a Connected Vehicle Environment: A Convex Approach
2018
This paper proposes a convex optimization based algorithm for queue profile estimation in a connected vehicle environment, which can also be used for trajectory reconstruction, delay evaluation, etc. This algorithm generalizes the widely-adopted assumption of…

Geometry

Branch of mathematics

Geometry (from Ancient Greek __ γεωμετρία (_geōmetría) 'land measurement'; from __ γῆ () 'earth, land' and __ μέτρον (métron) 'a measure') is a branch of mathematics concerned with properties of space such as the distance, shape, size, and relative position of figures. Geometry is, along with arithmetic, one of the oldest branches of mathematics. A mathematician who works in the field of geometry is called a _geometer. Until the 19th century, geometry was almost exclusively devoted to Euclidean geometry, which includes the notions of point, line, plane, distance, angle, surface, and curve, as fundamental concepts.

Queue Estimation in a Connected Vehicle Environment: A Convex Approach
2018
This paper proposes a convex optimization based algorithm for queue profile estimation in a connected vehicle environment, which can also be used for trajectory reconstruction, delay evaluation, etc. This algorithm generalizes the widely-adopted assumption of a linear back of queue (BoQ) curve to a piecewise linear BoQ curve to consider more practical scenarios. The piecewise linear BoQ curve is estimated via a convex optimization model, ensuring efficient computation. Moreover, this paper explicitly handles cases…
