Liquid Nitrogen

Liquid state of nitrogen

Liquid nitrogenLN 2—is nitrogen in a liquid state at low temperature. Liquid nitrogen has a boiling point of about −195.8 °C (−320 °F; 77 K). It is produced industrially by fractional distillation of liquid air. It is a colorless, mobile liquid whose viscosity is about one tenth that of acetone. Liquid nitrogen is widely used as a coolant.

Managing reactive nitrogen in spring wheat cropping systems: insights from Kabul, Afghanistan
2025
Abstract Ammonia (NH 3 ) volatilization and nitrate leaching are significant pathways of reactive nitrogen (N r ) losses in agriculture, leading to environmental concerns. This study investigates nitrogen (N) losses in wheat production near Kabul, Afghanistan, aiming to improve nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) for food security and environmental protection. Three fertilizer treatments were tested: (A) animal manure (2 t h −1 ) + 50% chemical fertilizer (urea and diammonium phosphate, DAP), (B) night soil (2 t ha −1 )…
