Andrew Graham Beshear (born November 29, 1977) is an American attorney and politician who has served as the 63rd governor of Kentucky since 2019. From 2016 to 2019, he served as the 50th attorney general of Kentucky. A member of the Democratic Party, he is the son of Steve Beshear, the 61st governor of Kentucky.
Beshear was elected attorney general in November 2015 and took office in January 2016. As attorney general, he sued Governor Matt Bevin several times over issues such as pensions. He then defeated Bevin by just over 5,000 votes in the 2019 gubernatorial election. As of 2023, Beshear and Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman are Kentucky's only Democratic statewide elected officials.
